I hope that everyone had a great Christmas break and is ready to take up the work which remains in the final weeks of the 1st semester. 8th graders are finishing their work in Civics and are finishing their study of the Judicial branch of government and will complete the study of the federal constitution by becoming acquainted with the amendments especially the Bill of Rights.

The first research papers are due the end of January just in time to help us make the switch from Civics to History.

The 8th grade class completed reading the novel

Roll of Thunder Hear MY Cry right before Christmas vacation.  We move ahead in Literature with a study of poetry. We plan on reading a number of classic poems like Chicago, Village Blacksmith, Flanders' Fields, and Home.  We might even try our hand at writing some poetry.  Every student will be required to memorize a poem or portion of a poem and recite it for the class.

The 7th grade History class is still fighting along side of Washington, Jones, Marion,

and Sampson trying to win the Revolutionary War and gain independence for the U.S.
