After a hopefully relaxing Christmas break, we'll be ready to "hit the books" again! We'll continue our stories in our basal readers in reading class, and we'll also continue with our weekly spelling lessons. Our Bible lessons will center around the prophet Elijah and the kings of Israel. We'll spend a couple weeks preparing and presenting plays to communicate these stories to our classmates. In math we'll expand our knowledge of "long multiplication". In social studies we'll finish our study of the Northeast and begin the Midwest. We also hope to complete our study of electricity in science and begin our study of the human body. In language we'll finish our study of verbs and write a biography from an interview we will conduct and also begin our Young Authors book. To help pass the long winter weeks, we'll begin a weekly Scrabble tournament. Important dates: January 19 - Martin Luther King Day/report card day January 21 - report cards distributed January 23 - Chapel at 11:00 am January 29 - Book-It due January 29 - Mid-year conferences January 30 - Sports Day |
